Preparation for Acting

Lesson 8:

Preparation

As an actor, you need to prepare. Being an actor is not a easy job. You need to be physically fit, have great memorizing power, so that you can reproduce the writers' dialogues. If the dialogues are not learn properly and delivered properly, the essence of the scene is lost. The dialogue delivery should be done with the right modulation.

Recently Amitabh Bachchan had revealed that in the temple scene in "Deewar", the director wanted him to speak from low voice to high voice. But, Amitabh Bachchan took his time and did it the other way around. That is he starts with a high tone and then brings it to low tone at the end of scene and it was one of best scenes of the movie. So as an actor you should suggest your point of you and any director would listen to the same as both of you are working towards the best of the movie. One of the best actor who could deliver the dialogues without any prompts or cuts was the late Sivaji Ganesan. On listening to the dialogues once or twice, he could enact the scene flawlessly. The following link will give you an idea - this was taken in a single shot without any cuts. Could you believe it ? But yes, it is true. Sivaji Ganesan in the movie"Raja Rani" Click here .
